I created the "I AM" Chant Magnets as a fun, tangible way to create daily affirmations and build self-esteem. Why? Because believing in yourself is important!

Although the Chant Magnets are only a few years old, they come from a long history, a history that goes way back to my childhood days on the playground where bullies said horrible things - mean words that shaped my personality and sense of self as I grew into adulthood. 

One day, about ten years back, I started to realize that, not only had my image of myself had been constructed by these words, it was still being shaped by them!  By words! And terrible words! How powerful they were to have been able to control my sense of self for so long. Once I realized this, how the words we believe can have so much control and influence, I decided to try an experiment.

I knew the routine of my day would be the same, work, class, home...but what if I forced myself to tell myself I was good things...even if I had to fake it at first?  So as I walked to my job I'd say "I AM Beautiful" over and over for the entire length of the block, then I swap the word with another, "I AM Wonderful" for a block, then another "I AM Loveable" over and over. 

A few months later people began stopping me on the street to ask how I could beam so bright. What?  I guess it had started working...the words and concepts I had of myself were changing.

Then, a few years ago I started noticing how friends of mine were also struggling with old outdated and unpleasant images of themselves.  I wanted to create something for them that would help them change those words and that thinking.  I wanted something tangible that would be fun and interactive, forcing them to touch each word, see it often and repeat it over and over.

My prototypes included card stock word that you would clip with a clothes pin to a big I AM Board, and Velcro words that would stick to a piece of felt that was embedded in a picture frame. Then one day a friends suggested magnets and the rest is history.

Goddess is the first, Professional the second, and now Spirit Chant is the third, brand new as of September 2011.
